I changed my life. I wouldn’t say it was something I decided to do immediately but when I did make the decision, I didn’t expect to feel so liberated. When the day arrived to have the gastric sleeve surgery on Dec. 8, 2016, I was anxious…scared as hell would be more accurate. My bariatric surgeon, Dr. Piotr Gorecki, asked me one question on my first visit…DO YOU TRUST ME TO HELP YOU CHANGE YOUR LIFE? Without hesitation, I said yes.

The bottom line is that it has been 5 months since surgery, and I have lost a total of 70 lbs from my highest weight. I look younger, feel healthier than I did 10 years ago, and am off all medications. I swim and go to the gym at least 4 days a week. I let go of all my unhealthy relationships. My husband and I are talking again. My entire outlook on life has changed. I am forever grateful, but it is only the beginning; I have a long way to go.

Hi my name is Jack (John) Cooper.  I am a real patient of Dr. Gorecki and I would like to share my experience with you.

Let me start with why I chose to have bariatric surgery.  In June 2011, at age 47, I weighed 296 pounds.  My body felt achy all the time, I was incredibly hungry always and I often felt sick.  In addition I suffered from kidney stones which were becoming more and more recurrent. I went to my original general practitioner who ran some tests and informed me that I was suffering from pre-diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, sleep apnea and pre-arthritis.  He also informed my that I was being weak willed and “if I just focused and lost weight” things would be better. – Read More

I decided to look into weight loss surgery. I went to a doctor that was recommended by my insurance, but I was not happy with the hospital services, and the bariatric clinic. Then after doing some research on-line, I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Gorecki at the New York Methodist Hospital in Park Slope, Brooklyn. I was thrilled. My insurance was able to approve the bariatric procedure. It was a life changing decision. As it turned out, a co-worker was also a patient of Dr. Gorecki, and had wonderful experience and many good things to say about the process. – Read More

Dr Gorecki,
What can I say, he inspired success and hope. He’s not a beat-around-the-bush, sugar-coated type of doctor; his demeanor is straight-up and forward, but a gentle soul. His professionalism, as well as his staff and team are superb; I would recommend my doctor in a heartbeat. He believed in me even though I did not believe in myself. He has truly given me a chance to make my life and health better. THANK YOU SO MUCH DR. GORECKI FOR GIVING ME A CHANCE AT LIFE. – JRinBKLYN

I am extremely happy that I chose Dr. Gorecki. He is extremely attentive and his staff is friendly and informative. They answered every question and they did not make me feel like just another patient. During my hospital stay he continued to provide excellent service. Customer service is huge for me!!! I would definitely recommend him. – Guatamala

Dr. Gorecki was referred to me from a colleague that worked with him years ago. Dr. Gorecki never sugar coats anything; he is a straight shooter. Dr. Gorecki has an extensive and structured after care program for life. I did not see this type of program with other surgeons. – klfritz33

He was very straight forward and very nice. His staff was excellent. – Lillie M.

I have a good first impression so far. I will meet with him again soon. I haven’t really had to deal with his office staff too much yet. I have only dealt with his PA Krystyna and she has been wonderful to me, but I will keep you updated on the rest of the staff. I can’t really say there was anything I didn’t like…His experience was obvious and he was very thorough with explaining the surgery procedure. It has been a good experience so far. I will let you know more as I go along. The surgery date is feb 4th 2008. I feel very optimistic. – soliisoul
